Edurne Pasaban |

A mountaineer and the first woman to climb the fourteen ‘eight-thousanders’, the highest summits on the planet.

As far as Edurne Pasaban is concerned there are no impossible challenges. She started out in mountaineering when she was very young and ended up dedicating her life to the sport and as a result has gone down in history. Conquering the fourteen ‘eight thousanders’ took her nine years; nine years of victories, defeats, endeavour and nonstop defiance of nature.

Edurne now has her home in the Val d’Aran in the heart of the Pyrenees. Because when you’ve seen the world from the highest peaks, you’re obviously going to want to live somewhere special.

The heart of the Catalan Pyrenees

A mountain expert choosing the Val d’Aran as their home tells us a lot about this county in Lleida province. The Val d’Aran is right in the middle of the Catalan Pyrenees and hosts a valuable architectural and landscape legacy that completely enthralled Edurne Pasaban.

The Basque mountaineer is based in Vielha and shows us her favourite spots in the area from the locations with the finest views. Because going right up to the top has its advantages.

The source of the Garona and Noguera Pallaresa rivers, Baqueira Beret ski resort and Aigüestortes National Park are just some of the stunning places that Edurne shows us while reminding us of the crucial importance of safeguarding nature and the environment.
